The Ring of the Nibelung is a cycle of four epic operas: The Rhinegold, The Valkyrie, Siegfried and The Twilight of the Gods.
Cologne Opera is one of the most acknowledged leading opera houses in Germany. The production of Ring by the multi-award winning Canadian director Robert Carsen and his stage designer Patrick Kinmonth was a sensational sucess and has been reproduced many times.
Markus Stenz, artistic director and chief conductor of Cologne Philharmonic, also works as general music director of Cologne City and the music director for Cologne Opera. In his time as music director for Cologne Opera, he has successfully conducted The Magic Flute, Tristan and Isolde, Lohengrin, Hansel and Gretel and the Ring of the Nibelung, etc.
