Long Yu
As one of the most distinguished Chinese conductors with an established international reputation, Maestro Long Yu is currently Music Director of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra ,Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the China Philharmonic Orchestra, Music Director of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, President of the Beijing Music Festival Artistic Committee and President of the Artistic Committee of the Shanghai Oriental Center.Besides his concerts throughout the year in China, Long Yu has appeared with the world’s major orchestras and opera companies, including the Chicago Symphony, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington DC, the Hamburg State Opera, the Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Leipzig, the Budapest Radio Symphony Orchestra, Le Theatre de Nice, the Ireland National Philharmonic Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
Changyong Liao
Vice Chairman of Chinese Musicians Association, Director of the Performing Arts Committee, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Musicians Association, Director of the Vocal Performance Department of Shanghai Conservatoryy, Mr. Changyong Liao is one of the most outstanding Chinese vocalists and opera performers who occupy a notable position on the international stage. Liao revealed his talent in singing and performing during his studies at the conservatory and was trained under distinguished tenor Mr. Wei Luo and renowned soprano-vocal professor Ms. Xiaoyan Zhou. He graduated in 1995 from Shanghai Conservatory with a Master Degree.Liao has worked with BBC Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra. San Francisco Opera Symphony Orchestra, France Toulouse National Symphony Orchestra, Japan Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, German Stuttgart Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra, Norwegian National Opera House, Norwegian National Symphony Orchestra and London Symphony Orchestra etc. Liao has played in a variety of roles including Faust (Valentin) with the Opera Comique, Carmen (Morales) with the London Symphony Orchestra, Carmen (Toreador) at Shanghai Opera House and Nancy Opera House, La Traviata (Germond) with the Taipei National Symphony Orchestra, Rigoletto (Rigoletto), Un Ballo in Maschera (Rinaldo) and La Bohème (Mancello) at Zhou Xiaoyan Opera Centre and The Merry Widow (Danilo) at Shanghai Opera House, Cavalleria Rusticana (Alfio) at Shanghai Grand Theatre.
Wei Song
As one of the most famous dramatic tenors in China, Mr. Wei Song graduated from the Vocal Department of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, under the direction of Professors Zhou Xiaoyan, Wang Weide, Li Weibo, etc. He has played important roles in Turandot, Tosca, A Long Roar To The Heaven, La Traviata, Eugene Onegin, King of Chu, Carmen, Thunder Storm, Madama Butterfly etc, both at home and abroad. Wei Song’s performance has the power of metallic penetration, and his voice, deeply rich and mellow, of perfect timbre, was acclaimed “world-class” by Sherill Milnes from the Metropolitan Opera of USA. Wei Song went to America twice for recitals in 2003 and played the title role in Rigoletto. The performance was thus reviewed by the local media: “his powerful voice, controlled so easily and naturally, is of typical Italian style,” “the best tenor in the world nowadays.” He has won numerous prizes including the first prize in Bel Canto of Liaoning Province Television Competition, the Best Performance Prize of the 14th & 15th “Shanghai Spring International Music Festival,” the first prize in Bel Canto of National Minority Vocal Art Competition; the prize of Classical music issued by Baosteel. He has also been invited to perform in many countries and regions such as America, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Taiwan etc. From 1999 to 2000, he was invited to Paris for further study and concerts.Now Wei Song is Vice President of Shanghai Opera House, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Youth Art Association, a member of Shanghai People’s Political Consultative Conference, and a judge of national vocal competition and those held in Paris, France.
Xu Xiaoying
Xu Xiaoying was born on November 15 in 1979. She graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music and under the direction of Professor Chen Qilian. She is now a soloist of Shanghai Opera House. Sept. 2003 wins the sixth place in The 14th Belgium Verviers International Vocal Competition. July 2004 serves as soloist in Shanghai Opera House Oct. 2005 wins the second in place The 8th Canadian Montreal & Czechoslovakia International Vocal Competition. Mar. – Apr. 2006 wins the scholarship from French government and rehearses in Saint-Etienne, France, as Leila in The Pearl Fishers, a collaboration project. Feb. 2007 Performs as Liù in Turandot Puccini. Mar. 2007 Performs in France as Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen Sept. 2007 Performs as Fan Yi in the Chinese Opera Thunderstorm 2007-2008 Performs as Desdemona in Verdi’s Othello in Shanghai Opera House and the National Opera House. Mar. 2008 Invited by the Saint Etienne Opera House and Reims Opera House in France to perform as Leila in Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers July 2008 Invited by opera houses in Finland and Switzerland to perform in The Sorrow of the Yellow River (from The Yellow River Cantata)and as Desdemona in Verdi’s Othello, acclaimed by the audience. Sept. 2008 Performs the title role in Puccini’s Tosca in Shanghai Opera House. Oct. – Nov. 2008 Performs the title role in Puccini’s Suor Angelica in Shanghai Opera House and Beijing Sun Yat-sen Music Hall Feb. 2009 Performs as Anna Puccini’s Le Villi Oct. 2009 Performs the title role in the Chinese opera Xishi in collaboration with the National Opera House Jan. 2010 Performs as Hanne in Lehar’s the Merry Widow in collaboration with China Philharmonic Orchestra.
Xu Zhong
As one of the most internationally renowned Chinese pianists and conductors, Xu Zhong is the founding member and Artistic Director of the China Shanghai International Piano Competition, the Artistic Director of Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra and Music Director of Shanghai Sinfonietta. He has enjoyed successful collaborations with many of the most world-renowned musicians, including Philippe Entremont, Sergiu Commissiona, Paul Badura-Skoda, Jian Wang, Arie Vardi, Vladimir Krainev, Lazar Berman, Michel Dalberto, Arto Noras, Jean-Bernard Pommier, Gérard Poulet and Pavel Kogan. |
